George The Handyman

My fence blew down in the recent storm and George came to the rescue. He constructed a new fence masterfully, immediately, and over the weekend, as well. I have another fence that could blow over in another storm. If it does, I'm going to "Let George Do It!" like it says on his truck.

I will preface this review by saying that George was punctual, friendly, and work was acceptable. However, I made the mistake of not discussing and agreeing to his hourly rate beforehand. I incorrectly assumed the hourly rate would fall within the parameters of a reasonable rate for an unlicensed handyman.

Our bill for 15 hours of work was nearly $2,000 (minus some materials and small trailer rental) with a fixed hourly rate of $130 per hour. Although I appreciate George helping us out with our list of miscellaneous handyman items, we would not have proceeded with the work had we known that the hourly rate was so high.
