$950 to replace 3 sprinkler heads and 3 manifolds!!!!!!!!!!!!
I called Sprinkler Pros to have two leaking sprinkler manifolds repaired. On August 21st Sprinkler Pros were scheduled to arrive at 0800. They arrived at 0830 instead. (Later I was told by the workers that they were "talking to their boss" between 0800 and 0830, and they would not be charging me 30 minutes of labor for that time (wow, how kind!)
The first hour was spent by the two workers and I walking around my yard talking about sprinklers and their recommendations of what should be done that day. Come to find out I was being charged $150.00 (per hour) to talk to 1 person and have another one tag along and listen. I have to assume that, had this been a separate appointment where they came out to give me a "real estimate", that they would not have charged me for their time when all they we're doing was telling us what they recommended to be done. I don't feel that companies should be charging you $150/hour (a 2-person rate at Sprinkler Pros) to tell you what sprinkler I should replace. Certainly not a full hour of shooting-the-shit at $150/hour. Especially since I just wanted 2 manifolds replaced due to them leaking and they spent this $150-hour to up-sell me.
When the work finally started, I was told that the name brands of the manifolds I had purchased for this job were not good enough and if they were going to warranty their work for a year, that I would have to use their particular brand. They were nice enough to let me go back to the hardware store to pick up my own manifolds which cost me $19.00 each (instead of $50.00 each that they were going to charge me--Same manifold, same store). At this point I was told they found another manifold that was leaking, so I bought three.
I was also told, once they started working, that they could not simply replace the leaking manifold, they needed to dig down to the original piping and put in new gray piping and then attach the manifold to that. Even though the PVC was not leaking and still in great condition. Again, they said they would not guarantee their work for a year if I did not let them dig down to the main water lines. I went off to an appointment and came back, and they were still working on the same manifolds! When they finished that, they recommended replacing all of the rotary sprinklers with gear drive sprinklers. I agreed to replacing a few of them; and I had already purchased a bunch from the store so that I could replace them, if needed, at a later date when I had more time.
I gave them their space to work, and when I came back to check on them replacing the sprinkler heads, found that they were, again, digging all the way down to the sprinkler main and installing extra parts and pieces besides the sprinkler head. They said it was necessary. (Meanwhile, I replaced two sprinkler heads by myself to there one, combined.--I was only replacing the heads themselves so I only had to dig down one foot). Come to find out, they didn't even use the sprinkler I purchased and TOLD THEM TO USE. Instead, they used their own and, yep, you guessed it--they charged me DOUBLE the actual price.
4.5 hours into the job and I told them to wrap it up. They let me know that they had not yet fixed the main sprinkler that was actually leaking yet! So I said go ahead and fix it. This part did warrant them digging down to the main, which I helped them dig because they dug so slow. They finished the job at 1400 (2pm) and gave me the invoice... That's when I realized they had charged me for the first hour for them chatting with me about sprinklers at $150/hour. And that's when I realized they didn't use the sprinkler I purchased and that they added a bunch of other unnecessary parts to my sprinkler line (that was not discussed with me) and charged me TWICE as much as it cost them for the parts.
$950.00 for 3 manifolds and 3 sprinkler heads. It took them 11 "man"-hours. (they charged me $150/hour for two men) It should have only taken one experienced person 5 hours for everything. It would have taken me about 6 or 7. And that's with digging unnecessarily- but at normal hard-working ethic digging speed.
If I had to do it over again I would had made them give me a free, real estimate so I could make an informed decision.
Would you pay someone $158/sprinkler or manifold?!?! NO, I would not have agreed to that either. What ever happened to good work ethic in this country?!? I guess there will always be scam artists trying to make money than what they are worth. Just sad. And this guy grew up here in the same neighborhood which apparently means nothing to him.
I was so mad and felt so taken advantage of when they left. I'm kicking myself for actually paying them. I'm not one to write Yelp reviews like this but I feel like this is all I can do. I was taken advantage of and there's nothing I could do except prevent these people from taking advantage of someone else.

I do not know what the problem is with this company. Perhaps personnel have medical issues, but they are among the most unresponsive that I have ever met I have left numerous phone messages some that needed time constraints with no response. Although the work that they did for me was reasonable they left very few concise directions and when I called back to get assistance I could get no response for over a day. I would have a problem recommending them to anyone
