Chico Youth Soccer League

Horrible abusive coach. Board ignored the abuse and verbal threats. They pushed us to the side and are still allowing this coach to coach. Swearing, drug abuse, drinking, slander, sexual remarks and all around bully! Got upset when our child didn't want to play on his team and told his players to not speak to our child and lied to the players. Players later came to us and said Coach said they would get kicked off the team if they talked to our family. Three players left his team because of his behavior. Board has done nothing about it and states they wont because only one of us complained. And our child is not enough to have this Coach removed. He stated in writing to another parent, that he was going to contact the High School and make sure our children did not make the team because she left his team. He bullied us saying he was going to file a TRO against or family. He was upset because we went to the board. We are in law enforcement and did nothing to him. Our daughter has a disability and is being bullied by the Coach and now the board. The Coach also taught our daughter wrong plays/moves. All the girls complained on the team. Many wanted off but their parents would not allow them to switch or simply ignored them. This Coach took the girls to LA with only 2 weeks practice (new team) and they were slammed. Director in LA was blown away that he would set up that game(s) because its extremely aggressive. After speaking to the Chico Cal they told him to not go but he went ahead and went. Our daughter was crushed and other players suffered huge emotional toll. The board also told us that they were waiting for a parent to complain regarding this Coach but because no one stepped up to fill the empty spot so hey went with him. So, they allowed him to Coach knowing full well of his anger issue. They informed us of his prior anger issues. Now that this has happened, with their prior knowledge, they are still allowing him to Coach this year. We spent over $3000 with fees, gas, hotel, food. Not worth it! We are spending more in therapy fees! U16 Coach.

The directors and staff are very helpful and the registration costs are great. I love that while the focus is on teamwork and skill building, score is still kept and there are winners and losers. It helps kids learn how to have true sportsmanship regardless of the game's outcome. I wish the referees were a bit more competent, but you can't expect too much from young teens. The only thing that I would change is the length of the season. It would be perfect if it were 10-12 weeks instead of 8 but I know that would be more expensive so it isn't realistic. A great league!
