If the sign says $10.99 it probably is really $13.99. They have plenty to choose from but didn't have one common item you can buy everywhere. Maybe they should concern themselves with dusting off some of those old bottles on the shelf. Especially for a store that nickels and dimes you on everything. I only discovered that I also got charge; a 3.5% customer service charge?...After looking at the receipt because I was told a lower price but then really charged a higher price. I ended up spending $5 more on 2 items than any other place in town including some restaurants. Forget this place, customer service sucks and the only thing you get out of Spikes bottle shop is ripped off. If I knew I was also getting charged an unannounced service charge I would have just left and went somewhere else. Shame on you! I am not going to be a customer at Spikes or any other of this owners establishments.

That's great you have some signs, you have a lot of signs, I'll just go to places that I don't have to read a sign to know that I am being nickeled and dimed, and again I saw one price ,was told a higher price and actually charged even a higher price. I'm sorry you can't keep your costs down. Re-read the 1st sentence: "sign says $10.99 sold for $13.99..." plus crv, plus tax, plus fee.
Regarding customer service:
1. Clean up the very dusty shelf items. Remove items in middle of floor walkway that just don't belong there.
2. The dog that use to be there was nice but I found it really annoying being barked at and having to step over the dog and leash.
3. When the clerks like to have long discussions not having to do with anything about selling liquor and other customers are waiting. Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with a conversation, but it really sucks to have to wait for something that has nothing to do with why anyone is there.
4. When I ask for the item you didn't have after looking and told its in the corner left fridge, but it is not and have to ask "are you sure? do you not have it," only to find out you don't have it because it "doesn't sell??" I mean there are some empty shelf spaces and everyone sells it. Nobody was helpful or went the extra mile.
5. When I asked the clerk in this case about the overprice when it has label everywhere for $10.99 but not a single label for $13.99 that is misleading, they didn't care and claimed they would let you know. Did they let you know? Because the only reason I just may go back, is to take some pictures of your signs and pricing tags for the AG to discuss with you. Again, Nobody was helpful or went the extra mile.
6. I was obviously paying with a credit card why did the clerk tell me the wrong price, maybe I would be willing to dig some cash out?
According to your receipt " CUSTOMER PRICING NOTICE Subtotal below includes a 3.5% customer service charge which is applied to all store sales"
So why was a told a lower price than charge when "ALL STORE SALES" have this charge and it is only discounted when paying cash. The $0.00 Thank you charge is cute, but the 3.5% charge is not even itemized on the receipt. The Subtotal DOES NOT ADD UP. Again, Nobody was helpful or went the extra mile. My impression is they didn't even care at all.
7. I don't need to call you to discuss it further. Not sure what "()/!& you." means, hopefully it was either typo or a new positive emoticon.
The bottom line, there are other very fine liquor stores in town that don't give an excuse like that for why they charge so much more and nickel/dime you. The right way to address your card issue is to charge the credit price upfront and then give the cash discount. Many places just charge up front and never give a cash discount. Don't you think it would be a good idea that your customers see them getting something instead of just being charge even more? It's really that simple I'm going somewhere else and just think people should know. Nobody was willing to help recently and I only had 1 clerk in the past even try to go the extra mile.
I at the very least appreciate your follow up....I think...so I up'd you to a 2 star. Still not coming back to Spike's Bottle Shop.- helpfull 0

Spikes always has the best selection of beer and alcohol in town. The owner is warm and friendly and knowledgeable of the products.
