Auto Technology of Chico

When my car broke down outside downtown at 5pm, AAA said they'd tow me to a place that was already closed. I didn't feel like getting stranded at some random auto shop so I found Auto Technology in the phone book.

Jim (the owner) answered the phone and although he was technically closed, he offered to stay open until I got there.

It was about as lucky as I could have gotten after my transmission cable broke in a strange town when I had to be at work early the next morning.

Jim said he'd be able to look at the car the next day and personally gave me a ride to my hotel. He also called up a bunch of rental car places and was the only reason I managed to get a rental car and make it to work the next day.

The next day he called to give me an estimate for the part and labor. I looked up how much the part cost elsewhere and what the labor should have been (what can I say, I'm cynical about mechanics). Jim's quote was totally fair and he even gave me a discount to compensate for the overcharging of the part supplier. He had my car ready when I was done with work the next day. When I went to pick up the car, Jim offered me a cold drink and asked me to take the car for a drive to make sure there wasn't anything wrong before he left for the day.

Plus, he has a really cute shop puppy, Harley, that really takes the sting off having to pay for whatever is wrong with your car. Jim, and Auto Technology of Chico, rocks!!
