Brooks Joseph T MD

Dr. Brooks was my gynecologist for many years. I can only describe his practices as antiquated. His approach seems to involve the notion that women are, for lack of a better term, "hysterical" and unable to deal with information about their own health.

I watched him treat my mother that way for decades, but through the filter of her appreciation for it. She IS the type to think she has cancer & is going to die at the first irregular pap smear, so his "It's nothing - don't concern yourself with it" methods suited her just fine.

Imagine my surprise when I moved out of the area & had my first encounter with a new gynecologist... only to discover that I had multiple massive uterine fibroids complicating my health. They were unmistakable... unmissable... had obviously been growing for years... and accounted for innumerable symptoms that'd I'd brought to him and god-knows-how-many other doctors (menstrual clotting... excessive bleeding... fatigue, anemia... lower back pain... severe hormonal imbalance...). He knew all along and spent years brushing me off. He'd even gone so far as to vaguely call me back for an immediate follow-up after a visit a few years ago, stating that he needed to run further tests "on something," but when I asked what we were looking at his reply was the typical "It's nothing - don't concern yourself." Never heard anything of it again. Until I replaced him.

I'd like to see his copy of my medical chart. In my opinion, he has some explaining to do about why he dismissed me all that time when he absolutely knew of my condition.

Dr.Brooks is a HORRIBLE doctor i went to him at ten weeks for my first apt him being unwilling to see me earlier spend majority of his time on his "physical exam" then went to hear heartbeat and couldnt find it he said everything was fine and its not abnormal to not hear heartbeat he refused to do an ultrasound as i sat and pleaded as to why its important for about 30 min he said ultrasounds are not very useful except for showing baby sex so i left after his rude and incompetant care went to see Dr. Caffereta and found out i had misscarried which is why he couldnt find heartbeat he should of done ultrasound! He is the worst doctor i have evet been to his equipment and office is outdated please save yourself and your unborn child stay away!!!!! I highly recommend Dr. Caffereta she is hands down outstanding but even planned parenthood is a step up from dr brooks!
