GH Wickham - Violins

I'm a fiddler, but a local pro violinist recommended the shop to me.
He cut a new bridge to replace a damaged one, and installed a new sound post to replace one that was always dropping. Decent price, I was satisfied with the work.
He specializes in restoring older used instruments in the mid priced range so students can get a better sounding instrument. I've played most of his full-size violins, and he has the best selection in Chico in the range of about $500 to $1,000.
He also has violins in "fractional" sizes for children. He's the guy to go to in Chico for a French polish or repairing Grandpa's fiddle that's falling apart!
Good selection of Pirastro strings in particular. and he actually had some decent quality chin rests for me. He's upstairs above the management's office in the Stonebridge center of of the Esplanade. (There is literally a little stone bridge that's part of the driveway into the office complex of gray individual offices)
He has some bows, but doesn't do rehairs yet. You should call first to see if he's in the shop, or to make an appointment.
