He did a roofing and decking (which he subcontracted) project for me about 15 years ago. There were leaks from the roofing almost immediately. Although he said he'd stand behind the work, he came to repair it only after the first year (charging me) then never returned a phone message thereafter. The decking has had problems as well due to cheap materials. This was a $30,000 project; he should have done better. I wouldn't use him again nor recommend him.

We're in San Francisco, but hired Bill to replace a foundation wall, along with a retaining wall, a fence and an exterior stairway, mostly due to shifting of the house over the years. As these things often go, the job turned out to be more complicated than expected: a previous owner's "cosmetic" improvements had hidden some serious problems with the garage floor. The net result was that half the garage floor had to be replaced also, along with the footings for some posts.

Through it all, Bill managed the process really well, keeping us informed, explaining issues and responding to our concerns. We're very pleased with the quality of work. Bill and his subcontractors did a great job in keeping disruption to a minimum (overall, it was a multi-month project). Total cost for the project was very reasonable given the scale.
