Callen Craig E DVM

I give Dr. Callen and his office staff a 0. I have been taking our dog to him for 2 years and our cat for over 10 years before that. I never had an emergency so there was never a problem. When I called the office to let them know our dog had been throwing up ALL night and I needed to get her in right away to see him, the receptionist said they "might" be able to get Trixie in the next day unless there was a cancellation! I said this is an emergency. She said I could call around to other Vets to see if they could get Trixie in. I said why would they get Trixie in when my dog is YOUR patient and you won't even see her? I took her to Valley Oak and within an hour after checking her out and doing test, it was determined that she has HGE which can be fatal is you don't treat it right away. I will never take our pets back to Dr. Callen's office. I guess they only want to make money on shots and pills and routine stuff but are not there for you in an emergency situation. This could have been just his Receptionist but she represents him and if I would have waited until the next day like she said, my dog could have died. Bottom line is you were NOT there for me or my dog when we needed you even though this is the first I've called you in an emergency situation.

I've been seeing Callen for 10 years with various pets. Had to put an older dog down and the staff was wonderful and supported me and made it the least traumatizing possible. Had a cat that had an incurable disease. When I chose not to give her the expensive treatment that might prolong her life a year or two, Dr. Callen did not make me feel like a bad owner. The facility is clean and staff is caring. Dr. Callen himself is so fabulous and gentle with each animal. Wonderful "bedside" manner with pets. I will continue to see him for year to come!
