J&R Sportscards

I just recently got back in to collecting cards (mostly hockey, and some old baseball) and I visited this shop on my birthday last year. The owner was super nice and brought me up to speed on the hobby. I bought a few packs and a few old cards and it took me right back to 1985 when I was a kid riding my bike to the store after a long day of cutting grass in the neighborhood for $10 a pop! (I grew up in Chicago). Overall, I had a wonderful experience, and he hooked me up with some free penny sleeves, a free pack of cards, and also a really cool Crosby/Ovechkin hockey card. I need to get back there this holiday season - it's a great place and he seems very focused on the community and bringing kids back to the hobby. Go check this place out whether you live in Chico, or are just passing through.

Horrible service. I was greeted with a "what do you want" (with a pessimistic tone of voice) I said I was looking to sell some 1970's football cards. He said he would only give me 13% at most of what they're worth. Greedy scumbag. Don't get scammed into selling him stuff for pennies on the dollar. BEWARE. You will rip you off.
