5th Street Clothing

I oddly love this place. I go here every time I visit Chico and always buy something. Definitely caters to the older female shopper, but sometimes you can find something a little more on trend. Good selection, fairly large store. Old school service - they are super attentive and helpful. Stuff is tasteful but could be a smidge more contemporary. Expensive.

Good selection of clothes for women over 40. I really wanted to be left alone to look and shop until I asked for help. I felt like prey. Once they got me in their sights, and pounced , they were helpful and reminded me of Nordstrom service 15 yrs ago. The owner is loud and pushy and all up in your face. At first she made me feel special, showed me things she thought would compliment me, yet was clearly selling the clothes . Then she then let me know that I was one of a thousand customers and really not that special at all , likely because I did not engage her and likely because I did not agree with her selections for me. I bought 2 pieces, that I really want to take back , but wont. The owner kept talking about prices. I can see the price. I do not know what game she was playing. Some of her pieces are over priced, other pieces have good price points. The clothes are of good quality and fit well. I spent $875 that day between 3 stores. I am not convinced that I will go back to 5th Street mostly because I do not want to deal with the owner. I appreciated the sales clerks. They seemed to listen and accept it when I said I did not like a piece.
