We moved to Chico in 1999. Based on my mother's referral, became patients of Dr. Nelson. We are a family of healthcare workers, so we know a great dr. When we meet them. Dr. Nelson is as good as you can hope to get. Her bedside manner is top notch. Example: a week after the birth of my daughter, my heart rate became very slow. Called the office and was told to go the ER. Dr. Nelson met me there and directed all my care, along with the ER staff at Enloe. It was discovered I was in heart failure with a pulse in the 20's. dr. Nelson made sure I had the best cardiac dr. She new of and waited with me to consult with him. This is just one of many examples I could give you. Whenever I have called or gone in, Dr. Nelson and her MA's have been professional, courteous, and willing to listen and address every need and concern. She leaves no stone unturned. If she even suspects an issue, she gives it her full attention. No nose in a computer, or rushing you out as quickly as she can. I am now in Medicare, with Medi Cal secondary. Never have I been denied optimum care because of insurance issues. Perhaps this is because I am an established patient. Unfortunately with the new healthcare system as it is, many doctors have to worry about their bottom line. This is a sad state of affairs, but for another page. If you can get a referral to Dr. Nelson, and get in to see her do it. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
