Feather River Midwifery

Waaaaaay better than my practitioner at Enloe, I actually got information and was paid attention to.
As a first time mom I didn't have any questions because I didn't know anything, midwife gave me an entire booklet allowing me the ability to ask questions and know what was going on.

The thing that was annoying about the Feather River Midwives is that there are at least 5 different midwives working there so you hardly see one person more than three times during the entire pregnancy. There were some midwives who were kind and caring and listened to my concerns and questions, but the rest of the time I had a horrible experience. It was important to me to have a connection with the person who would deliver my daughter but that was impossible when I saw a different person every week and when I talked to one person about my concern the next midwife didn't know anything about it, or didn't care! Eventually, Cheryl ended up delivering my daughter and I saw her for about 15 minutes the whole time. I told her I didn't want to have pitocin if we could avoid it and she didn't even listen to me and explain why it was necessary but prescribed it and left. Then she disappeared for the next 10 hours and came back to catch my baby and that was it. She didn't make me feel comfortable or safe, she made me feel like I was stupid and in the way. And there weren't any other women laboring that night, so she wasn't busy with other patients! If I could have chosen which midwife to have that would have been so much better but I was stuck with whoever was on call. I don't think I will go through them again, or if I do, I hope I end up with one of the other midwives...
