I worked with Spencer on a long-distance divorce and found him to be fair, honest, and knowledgeable. I was up-front about the financial/communication challenges given the situation with my ex (who was living 10 hours away) and Spencer was up-front about what my options would cost as well as ways that I could save money by doing some of the legwork during the process. What I appreciated most was his calm, unemotional approach; I wanted to diffuse animosity and avoid a pitched court battle if at all possible and he provided good information and counsel on how to navigate the process at every turn without putting any pressure on me to make decisions I wasn't comfortable with. When it was all over, he was good to his word and refunded me for the unused portion of the retainer. It was obviously still a difficult process, but I was grateful to have found such a competent legal advisor during what could have been a complicated and protracted divorce. I have since referred family to him for estate planning needs, and they were very happy too.
