Their "fraud detection" system BLOCKS YOUR CARD ARBITRARILY (This has happened to me nearly every single month) and then texts you a message with a case number. You're required to contact them immediately. Even if you do, though, and you verify the purchase/s that they question for any odd reason, they've already blocked your card. Your chance of getting it unblocked immediately is no better than your odds of winning the Super LOTTO. They don't understand that many phone service carriers and even phones are not compatible with their "fraud detection" system. I am unable, as IS THE BRANCH MANAGER OF MY LOCAL MEMBERS 1st, to respond to these text messages. I handed her my phone. She tried. She gave up and walked away with no suggested remedy except to keep investing into more cards. If you're trying to make me mentally ill, you're doing an excellent job, Members 1st.
Even supervisors refused to un-block my card. Person after person I spoke with treated me like the criminal that "fraud detection" is supposed to detect.
Yet, when I was an actual victim of identity theft, THEY DIDN'T BLOCK MY CARD. Now, I was left food-less for the 3-day holiday weekend. It's lucky I don't have children to feed. (I discovered that Members 1st blocked my card after I spent 90 minutes grocery shopping, waiting in line, and bagging my groceries, all in-between my client/work sessions.)
I am beyond sick of this happening. Banking should not cause DSM verifiable, co-occurring mental health disorders like this. Members 1st needs to pay for my mental health treatment, and for that of everyone whose cards they keep blocking; for any and all bounced payments because of their asinine non-reason reasons for blocking our cards, for groceries, gas, and other life necessities that they wall us from accessing on a whim.
It's simply illegal to block a person REGULARLY from their own money, for no reason whatsoever except that you feel like it and clearly have no idea what identity theft actually is. Why cannot a financial institution understand this very basic concept that your average (or even special) preschooler could grasp?- helpfull 0
