Great school, they focus on the self defense and philosophical aspects of the art, as opposed to sport- which was my martial arts background before I started training here. The atmosphere is very welcoming and safety oriented, it's a highly traditional school- something of an experience in of itself. If you are looking for a workout to lose weight or gain cardio, you will be disappointed. The warm up is just that, and typically the extent of significant physical exertion in a particular class. HOWEVER, if you want to know how to survive a physical altercation, this is your place. The techniques and principles you learn to make them work are simple, effective, and can be titrated from a simple hold to a more brutal varient. This is taught alongside a curriculum of both discipline and respect in a friendly atmosphere.
