I lived in Sherman Village from June 2016 to June 2017. If it had been up to me, I would have stayed for the rest of my college education and beyond. However, sometimes roommates leave a bitter taste in your mouth.
Sherman Village was welcoming, lovely, and kind. This is not a college-filled apartment complex, but a family one. I was an outlier, but I was never treated as such. There is a peacefulness there that I miss already. Waking up in the morning, watching the hummingbirds zoom around, and the children go off to school...gosh, I loved it. During my entire time there, there was only one party, and it was down on the lawn. As far as I could tell, it was some kind of family reunion. I never once had to file a noise complaint.
Lynsey, the landlady, was AMAZING. She was meticulous, detail-oriented, and strongly desired to make sure that everyone was happy. Under her supervision, Sherman was constantly cared for and improved - new paint, new roof, and plenty of plant maintenance. Every time that I had a maintenance request, I could depend on it being done within 24 hours, and done well. Heck, over the course of the year, my stove and my dishwasher broke (I have a curse with technology), and they completely replaced them with new appliances. It didn't cost me a dime or a moment of worry. It was fantastic. Hill Properties really knows how to take care of their apartment complexes.
The apartment itself was fantastic. I adored my big window in the living room, and could spend hours in my recliner reading and looking out at it. I miss having that big porch. I was in the smaller of the two bedrooms, but it was plenty of room for me. But the absolute best part of the entire apartment was how much storage there was!!! That, or the washer and dryer right in the apartment! No quarter slots!
In all honesty, once my former roommate leaves Sherman Village, I'll probably move in again. It's a slice of heaven. I loved being within walking distance of Bidwell Park, of having the library right next door, and the large, safe Safeway just a few blocks away (I definitely prefer the Mangrove Safeway over the creepy Nord one).- helpfull 0

DO NOT LIVE HERE!
The apartment management company (Hill Properties) is abysmal, their staff is incompetent and their facilities are extremely outdated and lackluster. They will try and squeeze all the money out of you that they can and they will not hesitate to screw you over when you finally get out of there.
Trust me, look else where. Avoid Hill Properties. I'd only consider living with them again if the only other alternative was that I was going to be homeless, and that would still be a close call.- helpfull 0
