Reviews of Joshua Tree Apartments

If I were giving the apartments themselves a rating I would leave a 4 Star review because even though they are old and outdated they are still livable and landscaped well, and in a decent area of town. Our overall experience at JTA was awful after Lorraine became the property manager. Talk about the laziest property manager who has ever lived;do you ever work Lorraine? Or stay at the office longer than a 1/2 hour at a time? We had mice in our apartment for about 10 months, I had told them, complained to them, let them know when I saw evidence and only when the other two tenants were complaining too, and the upstairs neighbors moved out and their apartment was littered with garbage and things that go scratch in the night that we finally got any pest control. My favorite part is the inconsistency of lease compliancy, like when our upstairs neighbors smoked cigarettes and pot inside and outside, or when they kept us ip all hours of the night and when we complained were asked "have you never lived in an apartment before" most excellent response from a property manager, I must say. And then, when the noise never got better she told us to go to her apartment (she lives onsite--not sure why, she never answers her door), she served US with a 3 day or quit for disrupting her husband. Major eye roll. She'll lie to your face with a smile on her face and speak down to you like you're the dullest light in the house. When we gave our 30 day notice, collectively we set up a time and day that would work for an initial walk through and of course, Lorraine didn't leave a 48 hour notice regarding our agreed upon date and time for our inspection, and then, she was 30 minutes late to our initial inspection to which she didn't even call ahead or text to say she was running late. Pretty rude if you ask me. At our final walk through, she basically walked through with that condescending look she likes to have on her face and wrote on her piece of paper and when my husband asked why certain things were considered partial clean, she told me she won't talk to him, and will only talk to me....sorry, that's not real life. You're in an industry that's dealing with peoples money, you should be prepared for a few clap backs regarding why something is partial clean!!! My favorite part of our final walk through regarding $1000 deposit was when she told us she had an appt a half hour after ours; as if to say we were wasting her time. Sorry you don't know how to allot enough time for your final walk throughs but we won't be brushed off. CY property management should be ashamed of themselves for having Lorraine as a PM, but that's the beauty of Social Media these days, this review will go anywhere I can leave a review. My warning to you future tenants looking for a place-if this place works for your budget and your life (month to month instead of a lease) then go for it if you must, but be forewarned they will take most of your deposit, Lorraine lies through her teeth, the turnover is high, and you better make sure you mark, state and take pictures of EVERY speck of dirt or crack or anything that you WILL be charged with when you move out. Clint is nice.

The service here is horrible. I have be harassed on multiple occasions with a personal visit at my door to tell me that I am doing something wrong. One of these things that I was doing so wrong that it required a personal visit was that I threw a little bit of garbage from my car in a large trash can next to the mailboxes, which apparently is ONLY for mail. On another occasion, I forgot to put my rent through the online portal by midnight on the due date ONCE since I've moved in, so I paid it early the next morning, plus a hefty $50 late charge and by 10AM that morning I received a personal visit from the manager and a three day pay or vacate notice (they are very generous with these so be forewarned) even though I had ALREADY paid that morning. Every Wednesday morning at 7AM on the dot the yard maintenance comes and mows and blows leaves directly by every window in the apartment complex and half of the windows are single pane.
I have never had a negative rental experience or reference in my 10 years renting in Chico and I have nothing but negative things to say about how Joshua Tree Apartments are managed. I have heard the same things from a few neighbors surrounding me.- helpfull 0
