Lakeview Apartments

Moved in to a "New" and "remodeled" apartment. All they did was replace the floors and countertops. In fact, they didn't remodel anything since it now looks like the one we were showed before we moved in. I now pay 200 more than my neighbor for these "new" things. whoever did the "remodel" cut a bunch of corners and now things are falling apart. Things that will probably be charged out of my deposit. There are huge gaps between the walls and the flooring for a terrible flooring job. there are huge gaps between the accents and flooring all the knobs in the "new" cabinets are falling off and spin in place. the towel and toilet paper holders in the bathrooms also fall off every use. And don't get me started on the cockroaches. They forgot a drain cover so now all types of bugs crawl out of that shower. the bugs come in through the cracks in the flooring. management doesn't do anything unless you leave something outside that "looks like trash outside your apartment" none of the "new" windows were installed correctly and the outside air comes through. I can go on and on. I would avoid at all cost.

I lived in these apartments for 1 year. My room mate and I were very clean, quiet and had "type A" personalities. We ran into one of the classic "move out, lose deposit, get charged" nightmares with this apartment complex. They had an improperly installed sliding glass mirror which was brought to their attention multiple times. Typically, once per day, I would need to slide it back on the rails, to have access to my clothes. Long story short after months of them neglecting this, the mirror cracked due to the improper installation and sliding off the rail. They added this to the charges upon move out (I requested the fix of the mirror before move out) along with a crazy amount of ridiculous charges as we left the apartment in pristine condition. In fact, we would have still gotten money back even with being charged 200 dollars for a door that was improperly installed. We have not had to deal with move out charges, aside from carpet cleaning and maybe 20-50 dollar additional cleaning before. They charged us for repainting nearly the entire place. Not sure why. Another problem we had was with the quality of wood in the kitchen and other compartments. The wood was very old and almost rotten/flaking. I had mold growing in several places and complained about this as well. They did not respond to this complaint and told me to scrub the mold away with the backside of a sponge. I could write for a while about quality of the apartments, which was underwhelming at best (I was drawn to them by their superficial good looks, initially), but the most frustrating part was the lack of communication from them. I attempted contacting them via phone call on 8 different occasions after moving out. I left 3 voicemails and wrote them a handwritten note and mailed it back to them stating I wanted to discuss the move out charges. I never received a reply. 18 months later after not hearing back, I received a letter in the mail from a collection agency regarding Lakeview Apartment's charge. The way management failed to communicate was, and still is, incredibly frustrating. As I do not have millions to invest in Lawyers to fight a huge corporation over a 200 dollar charge, I'm stuck with no response from Lakeview Apartments and having to pay this charge. The best thing I can do is write a bad review about an apartment run by an unaccountable manager and backed by a large corporation with a lot of money. I do not recommend living here. I lived in Chico for 3 years and enjoyed the city, having good relationships with nearly everyone and being very aware of the surrounding apartments. There are MANY places better suited for renting. I recommend avoiding this place.
