Swihart Rentals

Took $75 from me in application fees and never ran my credit. They accepted my money without ever considering me as a tenant. This is fraud, this is theft.

I rented with Swihart for a year and it was the worst renting experience of my life. Linda Swihart (the owner) is completely unreachable, and when she does answer your calls she is impossible to work with, a bitter, greedy person. She would skimp out on repairs, taking the cheapest route possible, even when the house was infested with cockroaches (she never had the place tented just told maintenance to set off those cheap can sprayers from home depot). Even the maintenance person hated her, and we would regularly complain together about the poor management when they came to "fix" something. Swihart kept a part of our deposit for not cleaning the OUTSIDE of our SECOND story apt windows. Keep in mind there was no patio or ledge to which we could reach those windows. When we left and moved elsewhere she claimed that we had payed rent late , which wasn't true, she just hadn't received them in the mail as quickly as she had liked. There is no place to pay rent in person and no online payment options, we had to mail them in. Once she gave us our first late rent notice, which was not late, we had to begin getting the envelopes timestamped at the post office and taking pictures of them because we knew she would try to charge us fees with no warrant. Swihart could definitely be considered a slum lord by chico standards. I would never rent from this woman or suggest her to anyone, maybe my worst enemy...
